    We’ve still got work here but they won’t do it.  That’s why they employ Eastern Europeans to do it.

    Meaningful in regard to what we pay for tomatoes in the UK.

    I don't agree with it but I think ideologically and culturally we've very much moved away from that mindset in this country. That being said anything that removes the necessity for humans to carry out mundane hard graft in the field is a good thing in my opinion.

    Well yes but the Eastern Europeans can make big money doing our farm work.  Would be a shame for those people. 
    You’re right in saying that we’ve culturally moved away from that.
    Maybe it’s townsfolk who think it’s romantic and should be on the curriculum,  country folk may feel differently. 
    I could never imagine someone from a town moving to the country to do farm work.
