On my "27"th birthday my sister gave me a very thick shawl/scarf, it still had the gift tag on it written by a friend who gave it to her. I didn't have the heart to say anything!
Are you a "28 Feb" baby? 🙂
Ahh, answering myself, you can't be ... unless you are now 108+! Doh!
An iPod that works is probably worth selling on eBay. Even old ones are still sought after.
Your council probably has some kind of electronic waste recycling. I think Curry's does as well. IMHO the chance of someone bothering to get the phone, crack any passcode, and get your information out is quite small.
If an old phone still works you can do a factory reset before passing it on. That should clear all the info from it. Should be somewhere in "Settings".
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
I threw out a load of old leads that had been lying around for ages. A few years later we got out my OHs old electric piano to show the granddaughters. No lead. Piano back in the cupboard under the stairs. We still have some stuff in boxes from when we moved here 21 years ago and more stove removed from the old kitchen when we rebuilt it 3 years ago.
OH treated himself to a thingy that prints lettering onto strips of sticky back plastic tape. Now he makes labels for any new chargers that come into the house. It’s been very useful, not just for matching up with the correct appliance, but will be great to know when it’s safe to send a charger to the tip.
A couple of years ago I gathered up all of the random cables and cords and sorted them all by type. Anything unique but unidentified I keep together in a box. If an item is small enough (like my ancient handheld GPS unit from a time before smart phones) I put it in a zip lock bag together with the cables. I put the USB cables into cheap pencil cases by type and got rid of half of them. Now if I find that I need a particular kind I can just pull the case out of the drawer.
I have one too, invaluable for labelling plants and they last much longer as well.
Found not one but two cocktail shakers on the highest kitchen shelf this afternoon. Last used I think at a wild post-wedding cocktail party many years ago! Out it goes!

Daughter thinks we should hire a skip.
