From what I read, caches are supposed to clear themselves when the computer is switched on and off - so you start with a clean sheet each time (as it were). But it doesn't always work like that. So, clear as mud! Yeay.
Some do clear themselves on shut down if they're of no further use. Others, that are generally static are saved so they don't have to be downloaded each time the device is turned on.
