We had a dreadful July onwards up here this year and my Carolina Reapers were like marbles. Padron did well although the pepper walls were a bit on the thin side but the real stars of the show as usual were red Scotch Bonnet and Hungarian Hot Wax. Both make great chilli jam and sriracha but the HHW are good stuffed with cream cheese and cheddar, wrapped in streaky bacon and roasted for 25 minutes.
I always wear rubber gloves when cooking chillis though. If it gets in your eyes or on other tender parts then bitter experience tells me there’s an unpleasant time to be had.🤬🤬😱
I grew 3 Hungarian Black plants a couple of years ago … I froze most of the crop and we’re only now down to the last dozen. Lovely fruity flavour and heat without fire … perfect for those of us who love chilli but whose innards can object.
I’ve ordered more seeds for next season. They grew well by our southeast facing studio window … going outside during warm spells.
