Perhaps LIz Truss could be persuaded to plant herself in the Sycamore Gap - arms and hair outspread to resemble a tree ? Planted deep enough, she shouldn't be able to uproot herself to cause havoc for the rest of us. Thinking about it, we could actually create acres of woodland using various other politicians, celebs, etc. Probably draw the line at Rees Mogg tho - don't want to plant anything toxic do we
Whilst I certainly agree with you on our severe nature depletion, I think those of us who have houses have to be careful, if we say no more houses should be built.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
It's a problem isn't it? People want more space, separate bedrooms for each child, a home office or two, a spare bedroom etc, and I think there are more single-adult households than there used to be. All that fuels demand for more houses.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Developers are sitting on countless acres of land already granted planning, but don't build until the prices go up. Give them 3 months to start developing the site, and a reasonable fixed term to finish it.

Housing mobility has been a problem for a while but the type of houses being built and the standard of new housing is always going to hold things back. I know plenty of retired couples living in large family houses who don't consider downsizing because smaller properties just aren't suitable. I know plenty of young families living in small bungalows because they can't afford to move up to the large family houses. It makes more sense to build multi-generational housing with accessible annexe or flats for older family members but younger family members often need to move around for work.
Developers keep building poor quality starter homes and never adhere to lifetime homes standards because there's less profit to be made in actually helping to create a better world.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I believe there is just a general lack of respect when it comes to the natural world, be that from government to the average person. I just came back from the lake district and it was blighted by rubbish and campfires from wild campers, most do respect where they are but enough idiots don't unfortunately that it would be better to ban camping full stop. I saw broken glass at the top of a few summits as well. Our local woods are full of rubbish, layby's are dumping grounds, anything that's green is hacked within a inch of its life or chemically attacked, its a shameful indictment of man.
