Hover mowers - any good?

  • I have always bought a similar adjustable heights type on wheels with grass box after my manager chopped a toe off using a hover.

    Yikes!
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • A light weight cordless mower might be an option. Look for a good brand and a package which includes battery/batteries and a fast charger. I got one earlier this year which I can lift up the 10 steps in my garden with one hand. It cuts the lawn well too!

Or a small push-along cylinder mower if its a small-ish flat lawn that isn't allowed to get long. I can easily carry mine in one hand and lift it over the border onto the lawn, and I'm on the puny side. It's not hard to push unless I've let the grass get too long.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Thank you @Plantminded @JennyJ. Both worth considering. We haven't much grass and it's dead flat. I've been nibbling at it for years. You can't have too big a flower bed!. What make of cordless mower do you have @Plantminded?

  • It’s this one @B3, includes battery and charger (currently discounted!):

I have other Stiga equipment which use the same battery.

We've had a Flymo mower for decades but it is without a collection box. We like them because they are lightweight and do a decent job. Just swish it from side to side and job's done😂

    Sounds like a hovercraft
It must be at least 20 years ago and I think the seat was pulled behind but it took some controlling so never bought one

That’s why it’s sensible to always wear shoes with protective toe caps when mowing. I’ve seen folk mowing in flip flops … TBH they’re asking for trouble. 🙄
