Definitely brioche for making bread and butter pudding at home, one year I made it with left over panettone, also very good. I’m not keen on bread in any pudding ( apart from bread pudding) I make my version of summer pudding using home made sponge cake instead of the bread. Been doing that for years since I saw a Good Housekeeping recipe for autumn pudding using sponge cake with a mix of plums, apples and blackberries. Delicious.
  • Re: milk in tea. On our honeymoon in 1972 in Spain we overheard 2 'little old ladies' in the restaurant concluding the tea tasted 'off' probably because the hotel didn't get a milk delivery on Sundays. Never occured to them that not all milk is the same.
