Perhaps a plant support?  The prongs would go into the earth to hold it up.

I found something similar that is for potato riddling, but yours seems too ornate for that. But you could attach a sieve-type arrangement in the hole and use it for all sorts of things.

The technical term for that is a thing of purpose!

I did a Google image search and a reverse image search but that yielded nothing. The closest was a net that would be attached to the square and you could practise driving golf balls into the net. But the images online had much bigger ‘goalmouths’ where the net is attached.

There are web sites devoted to identifying mystery objects, one being on Reddit but I’m afraid I do not know what Reddit is.

  • The prongs have been in the ground for some time. Therefore the rest has been shifted upwards. The square maybe held a plant with the "snake" being decorative. Very interesting.

My first thought had been that it was a hoop for some kind garden game. But it looks like it was planted in the earth long term, so maybe it started out with an official use and ended up for another.

    Why aren’t the prongs pointed?

And why two prongs when one would have been just as stable? It looks like it was designed to fit either side of something.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

A long shot, but is there any branding mark or name anywhere on it? @tpqpprqj8z55103

Someone else here to contact perhaps.

There is always the possibilty that the tool/game was so badly designed, random, useless or odd that this is why it slipped into obsolescence.
