That's what I thought @Fairygirl , it would take a long time for grass seeds to blow in and establish themselves so quickly on gravel alone. Poorly prepared.
Hi all, it is a two and a half acre site. In one part I have created an Orchard which is coming on a treat. In another parcel there is what was a tunnel for growing vegetables, but I am trailing plants to cover the metal posts and that will become a pergola. That is also coming on well. I then have this area which I had gravelled !!!! The subject matter. I have created a lovely path and the cypress trees are taking well. I lost 8 out of 150, which I am pleased about. So, as I said previously I am going to try with the gravel growing it’s grass. Hope you are all enjoying a lovely Sunday x it was impossible to walk on the land originally it was so bad.
Are you in the UK? If we were able to see the site, we would/might be able to advise better. I certainly wouldn't fancy using a mower of any kind in the circumstances you've described - even with protection. It's where the gravel can be thrown that's as big a problem as being personally injured by it.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good evening everybody, thank you for all of your advice. I am pleased to say that I decided to leave what looks like weeds in my gravelled area. There are no glass windows in the area and fortunately it was mowed successfully. With the passage of time it will become a lawn, with very strong grass.
