Hogweed or not?

I've been growing lots from seed this year (not hogweed though)  In two places which I thought was candy-tuft the leaves have sent the shivers down me.  Can anyone id. these plants which have a bristly stem and finger-like leaves?

The leaves look nothing like our common native Hogweed Heracleum sphondylium.

They do look a bit similar to Giant Hogweed Heracleum mantegazzianum … I would be very wary … where did the seeds and/or compost come from?

  • A mix on-line and garden centre including Fothergills, Johnsons and Thompsons.  Compost is my own secret blend (like Col. Saunders of KFC) using Westland as a base.  For the past few months I have watering these two plants.  My Bidens have a slightly similar leaf.

I'd like to see the whole plant with an indication of size. At the moment I'm not seeing GHW there but open to mind change

I agree @nutcutlet. The pic is quite confusing.

@marcmejack  … When you say you bought some seeds online, would that be via EBay?

When you say you’ve made your own compost mix, would that include any stuff you’ve gathered from elsewhere and composted yourself?

"Silver surfer"   What do you think of this as a possibility ?

given the description and the possibility that if the seeds came via EBay there are lots of reports of ‘odd stuff’ being sent from China.

It’s probably wrong but it reminds me very much of cosmos sulphureus.
