I wouldn't take them out. That bed will look fantastic shortly!

I agree …That bed’s going to look absolutely glorious before long 🌸

  • I put autumn stuff in in September or October though?

Pansies and polyanthus would be perfectly happy being potted on them planted out early November. 😊

  • Ok. Fed up with these dam cosmos just down the end and just one white one in the middle
  • Very confused with this website tbh

What exactly are you confused about @sheila.bullock283v_8nFP1y?
If you can tell us, we can help you navigate around. The photo problem is an ongoing one. If the photos are kept smaller, it helps with loading them. You'll probably have a photo editor somewhere on your device.

Also - if you don't like the cosmos - just take them out. It's your garden after all  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I’m also confused, Sheila. At 5.50 you said the pansies and polyanthus are already planted but hidden and at 7.07 you said you want to plant them in September or October. If the plants are already in situ have they survived being starved of light?

Personally I find winter pansies annoying - they look great fresh from the garden centre but by November those vibrant blooms have gone and for the next five months the flowering is sparse, weather-beaten, slug-chomped and bedraggled. By late spring they perk up at the time when you want to clear the bed for summer planting.

    I agree.
In years gone by I'd often buy pansies/violas for a winter display.
Monty suggests removing all the flowers and buds before planting so they grow a good root system, so I do that then plant them.
Then there's not a single flower until around April/May the following year - so no winter display at all 🙄
