Aw rats! I do so love it when people cut holes in walls. @Busy-Lizzie mentioned her open-sided barn in another thread and I was thinking about your plans. I had new outbuildings done to replace a manky, permanently damp, used-to-be-a-deep-litter-hen-shed or some such. The outside looked all quaint and sunk into the ground but the inside was below my (very high) water table. It had three miserable wee windows and zero ventilation. I never went there. Not even to sweep out the many many MANY beech leaves/cast that blew in under the door. 🤨 I now have, on the same footprint, a three bay, dry, bright, dazzling edifice. It cost me £5000 just to get it up to ground level and there were the days when you wonder why you bothered but it is what I needed and I don't regret a minute of mess or expense. I have a potting shed bit, a workshop bit, a 'greenhouse' bit, a dangly clothes line, an essential hereabouts, and still plenty of space for cars, ride-ons, trailers... And the best idea ever? A door in each side! One for driving the cars in on one side and one for driving the lawnmower out on the other (and sitting looking out down the garden on rainy days drinking coffee and making plans...for an extension at the back 😳)! I got the footings in at the same time so there'll be a lean-to/clap-till. It'll be great. Think about what else it can be used for and incorporate that in your plans. Built in storage in the seats...that kind of thing.
@Busy-Lizzie at the minute it's only fit for the Gallery of Shame. I was out this afternoon building shelves and I nearly broke my neck there's so much stuff! 😳
