It must be down to each store. My local Aldi sells loads of plants, if you don't get there day 1 or 2 they sell out.
  • My local Aldi used to sell loads of lants all year round. I have noticed they have cut right back during the last couple of months. They probably lost a lot of stock during the prolonged heat wave earlier in the year. Like the rest of us.
  • Hopefully they'll stop selling plants altogether; I hate seeing all the half dead plants sitting outside supermarkets.  So much energy and resources has gone into growing them and then no one waters them, they die and they get binned.

Mine finally removed the dead twigs in body bags (allegedly forsythia, wisteria, and hydrangea, but none had any leaves or signs of life whatsoever) and replaced them with houseplants this week. They occasionally put out a rack of colorful annuals, but they usually go fast since they're half-price of everywhere else for the same thing. Even our big-box store nurseries are fairly empty right now, though. It's simply too hard to keep plants looking good in this heat, and lots of flowers are taking a bloom break.

I wish we had some heat
    Devon.
  • Our local Sainsburys has been hanging on to a lot of very poor plants. I kept checking for reductions (got a hydreanga for £2.50) but they're not worth it now.
