The nest will be abandoned later in the year and won’t be inhabited again next year.
Can confirm. I have several in my shed from years past and one in perfect working order this year.

Thanks for replies. As long as wasps leave by next spring it's fine with me. The shed is quite old and has many cracks and holes. I don't use it much apart from storing tools and mower.

I understand the risk of wasp stings and if this nest was in the summer house which we use everyday, I would have called pest control.

I found a wasp in the moth trap this morning. So it must have flown at night or at first light to get in there as I was up at 5am.  I let it go.  I did drown four box moths, invasive species ,no predator as too toxic.
Did you check if it was a male or female wasp? I assume the males are like bumblebees and don't use the nest. I find male bees roosting in my plants at night while doing vine weevil patrols so male wasps might do the same.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
