And how do I encourage them to leave the shed without causing harm?

Is it beehive or waspnest? I like bees but I need to access shed to get my tools mower etc.

    I think it's a wasps nest

    It’s rather beautiful. Looks like a 1970 s lampshade.

If it’s in the way ,you can call an exterminator to rid you of it . Awful shame though ,if you can live alongside it please do . We need all our wildlife ,but obviously if you are allergic or whatever, it’s a different story.

Fabulous. They're beautiful pieces of nature.
They're unlikely to bother you if you're just getting tools etc. If you're bothered - get someone to bring out the tools you need and keep them elsewhere for a coupe of months.
I frequently have them right next to the shed - 2 last year within a few feet of it. No bother at all, even when I had to do some repairs to the adjacent fence and there was one each side of it, so I was within a couple of feet all the time I was working on it.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Is it possible to remove the tools for the summer? It will only be used before the winter.

And wasps eat aphids … we gardeners need all the help we can get 👍

Ok, I think I will keep mower and some basic tools which are near the door out of shed somewhere else.

One of my friend was not aware of wasp nest in his garage and was bitten so badly that he had to go to A&E. May be he is alergic too. So it can be bad but for now I can manage.

Do they eventually leave in couple of months or not?
