Is my Euonymus dying?

I always thought that euonymus was the hardiest of plants, I was, therefore, most surprised to discover that the freezing winter we've just had, managed to kill it; but I've already replaced it as I missed its reassuring presence.

I'd just move that into a slightly shadier site if it's very sunny, especially over summer. Anything in a pot is more vulnerable to weather, so sun will affect it far more than if it was in the ground, in the same way that very cold weather would. I think it's fine, but I can't obviously see what it's like inside the pot. As long as the drainage is good, it should recover, but that variety gets quite big, so if you want to keep it potted, you'll have to trim it regularly to keep it happy enough. If it's staying on a hard surface, it's always worth having pot feet to raise it off the ground too. Anything will do - it doesn't have to be purchased ones.
There's no point in spraying plants if you don't know what the problem is. It can mean killing beneficial insects too. They aren't usually bothered by many pests or diseases either.
Many Euonymous aren't reliably hardy here in any winter, but that one is usually ok.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
