BBC Weather: suddenly winter

I didn't trust my eyes this morning and quickly checked of others have the same. The BBC Weather knows obviously something that no-one else has got on the radar: we get winter for 4 days.

It’s ok @Simone_in_Wiltshire … you can put your winter woollies back in the drawer …it was a computer glitch …

Well it's, almost winter here!   We had a shower at 5.15am!!  Couldn't believe my ears!  The temperature is cool this morning at 19°C.  The house is open and the cool breeze blowing through.  We've had extremely high temperatures this week with a Sirocco wind blowing strongly.  Wicked weather burning up the garden.
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

  • Manu thanks @Dovefromabove. This is a relief 😂

🤔 Now that we know IT is unreliable perhaps  we should go back to hanging a strand of seaweed by our back door?  … 😉

We're in the Peak Park and the 400m contour crosses our land. It's been raining all day and blowing a hooley.  'Exposed to wind' - definitely. The hills are hiding in the clouds and the trees and flowers are taking a battering. It's 15C in the house and I'm sitting with my winter rug over my knees!
  • Not less interesting, my colleague in India said they have now monsoon and just 20 degrees. This is like winter for them.

We could be facing 60 mph gusts and torrential rain - I've just spent hours tying everything in. I think, still, a lot will break if we get those kind winds.

Rained all day yesterday, garden needed it, and was quite chilly so we had the heating on for a couple of hours.

Good steady rain all day yesterday here too. There was 7.5 mm in the gauge when I checked it this morning. The garden is looking much better for it.

Lost much of my garden today in the winds . It’s either flattened or uprooted . My neighbour is outside trying to save her shrubs which look as though they will be next .I darent go out in this weather ,in any case my wheelchair won’t go over the sodden lawn . I just have to wait ……….and clear up later and see what’s salvageable. Never known a July like it in all my 71 years .
