There is also a weed gun you could use. As I don't like using weed killer, and am not fit enough to do a large area of slabs by hand, I burn every so often to keep them down. Any crispy ants are soon eaten by the birds, no waste.
Pelargonic acid isn't a systemic weedkiller (nor is acetic acid which is in some weedkillers) so all it will do (at best) is kill off the top growth. That might be enough to see off young seedling weeds but it won't kill anything with an established root - they'll just grow back. Repeated applications each time they grow back might eventually weaken them but repeatedly scraping or burning them off would do the same.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
Hmm. "controlling annual and perennial weeds " (not killing them) and "repeat as necessary" (they'll grow back). Not exactly lying, but clever weasel-words.

Bash off the handle on the scraper (this is the hardest bit of the whole job!) and drill a hole up the brush shaft. Shove it in and bind with duct tape to stop the base of the broom handle splitting and you have a PP designed weed scraper outer. It has three pointy points and even more fabulous is that as it wears down they get pointier instead of blunt! I think I have replaced mine twice in about 20 years and I even used a preloved broom handle.
