Don't wear blue in the garden

I heard that too @Suesyn so I tried it. Din work.
I don't get bitten often thankfully but I am a delicate flower and react terribly to any kind of invasion of my person. Can't drink, can't take decongestants, can't have adrenalin in dental injections... @Obelixx two Covid vaccinations and a follow up booster resulted in 'near death experiences' for me. The booster was the giddy limit! I have genuinely never been so ill. I accused my pharmacist of trying to bump me off and only felt a little better when he told me that he and the other pharmacist had almost killed each other. 🤣

Can't say I've ever noticed a problem, but the flies in my garden like the white astrantia more than anything else.
I don't wear much blue but if/when I do, I've never noticed them being more attracted to me than at any other time. Midges don't really bother me either, and clegs/horseflies were never any real problem when I worked with horses, so maybe they just don't like the smell... ;)

Apparently it's something to do with blood type which attracts (or repels) them.I was told by a doctor that daily vitamin B12 would make a difference. Alternatively a daily spoonful of Marmite!
Ah!  I used to have Marmite for breakfast every morning. My wife dislikes it.

I wonder if taking certain medication repels the mossies too.

When we took a holiday in Crete, we spent the first night chasing and killing mossies, before finding out that the hotel sold small plug-in devices that emitted a scent mossies hate.
That first night my wife was bitten many times. I remained unaffected.

As for wearing blue - I'm not changing my wardrobe now!!

Watched a guy on telly the other day (who works with mozzies) he highly recommended the 'Jungle Formula' spray, which contains Deet. He demonstrated putting his arm in a tank full of mozzies first without the spray where they all landed straight on his arm and then he sprayed his arm with JS, put it back in and not one went for him! Apparently they don't like the smell ! Now all I want to know (apart from a net) is how to deter midges for when I visit Scotland next month. Anyone?

Avon skin so soft is the usual trick @Meomye.
It's a moisturiser or similar, but is supposed to be very effective. I've never needed to try it but most walkers swear by it as being better than anything else.  :)

Good morning @Fairygirl I was hoping you had some advice. Thank you.  :)

My pleasure - you can get it in most outlets that sell walking kit, but I don't know if Avon sells it online or anything, now that there doesn't seem to be the Avon Ladies  :)

Avon SSS works for me. Medication that I took for an overactive thyroid worked too but the chemist told me it was costing £1 per tablet and I had to take 12 a day! A bit expensive.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Tiger mosquitoes are the worst - nasty beasts that are active all day long and pack a far worse punch than your common-or-garden variety. I react very badly and extra strong repellent with 50% deet is the only thing that works, but it’s really horrible stuff and I stopped using it this year. I’m always covered from the soles of my feet to shoulder but now leave my arms exposed as sacrificial limbs and slap on the anthisan.
