I think you’re definitely right @WAMS about the variety being unstable 🤪 this is a bloom from my Cafe au Lait tuber which last year produced perfect blooms, but just noticed this morning that one bloom has a distinctive bright pink flash lurking!!!
Well that is a bit more Twistish than your so-called Twist, isn't it? This is my "Cafe au Lait Twist"'s latest offering... Not fully open but I've been giving it some serious side-eye for some days now. That was from Farmer Gracy and here is their picture.🤔
The photos of Twist are definitely misleading @WAMS aren’t they, I was just looking at your picture from Farmer Gracy’s and the bloom in the bottom left of the picture has got more of the garish pink stripes than the one they’ve chosen as the main flower 🧐 So as you pointed out it looks like the variety is unstable rather than being sent the wrong dahlia 😏
Lovely dahlias. I used to grow lots in my old garden in Dordogne, France, bought tubers and from seed too, Bishop's Children which used to survive the winter and Collarette one like Yankee Doodle Dandy. Here, still in Dordogne in my new garden, I only have 3 sorts, a red one, an orange one and 2 pink Park Princess. They all survived being in the ground over winter. In Norfolk in OH's garden, I only have one that has survived, David Howard, it is now enormous.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

My dahlia patch with the offending Cafe au Lait Twists taking centre stage 🤨
The monstrous bud on Cartwheels that I photographed 6 days ago has finally opened with eighteen petals! Obviously the result of three buds merging.
