Fox V Cat

A little fox is able to squeeze under the gate into the garden. Cats also do this. Will the presence of a fox and its smells deter the cats at all?
I don't like cats hunting the birds in my garden. There's a robins nest in the ivy, a pigeons nest in the tree and many baby birds coming to the feeders

We have a camera in the orchard for looking at wildlife at night. We have at least 3 foxes that visit but also 3 different cats. They are on the same paths so the cats aren't concerned about the foxes scent. A pity.

    Ah that's a shame.

@dangermousie - Based on my recent trail-cam footage, I'm inclined to agree with @bertrand-mabel. Our cat watched an adult fox sniffing around in the night and then decided to chase after it when it moved off!

haha, yeah, it's the cats that are cunning rather than the foxes

A friend living in London has spent thousands of pounds on vet fees after her cat was attacked by a fox … twice!

Oh no! Now that you mention it, my neighbours cat Simba had a nip from a fox too a while back.

I got a better video of the fox and it definitely has mange. Is there anything I can / should do? Report it to someone?

Can you fix something across the bottom of the gate to keep the fox out?  A determined fox would find another way in, but it might deter a youngster being casually opportunist.

Yep that should be easy enough. He'll be too big to fit under soon enough too

It's a cub. Poor thing! Would you please search up a wildlife rescue around your area and enquire with them? I think there is medication that's v quick /effective at treating for mange

We had a fox 🦊 visiting regularly until my 🐈‍⬛ cat decided he didn’t like him so he chased him away.
