Glad all is fine @John Harding, and also @Shauna2021. I'm sure you'll both get a nice crop too, and the odd weather patterns will make a difference, but that's how it is with gardening of any kind - always something trying to confuse us. The weather here where I am has been bizarre, and I'm having to alter what I do because of that - mainly watering stuff in pots far more often!
I'm also glad you're dealing with this nonsense in the right way John.  ;)

As @scroggin says re his former senior engineer, it's knowing that you don't know everything that matters - in lots of areas of life, not just gardening.  :)

Well Hey-Ho, ignoring the immature response from WG 572 - I picked my first pea pod a few minutes ago and ate the peas straight from the pod - deliciously sweet :p   There are sufficient pods to have with lunch in a day or so. I followed Punkdoc's suggestion and fed the plants with a Potassium feed and all is well now. John H (& thanks to Punkdoc for the suggestion)

Anyone know why my actual peas aren't developing? No problems with them growing, flowering and getting pods on, but apart from maybe 5 they haven't fattened up at all in a month since forming.
We've been eating them as Mange Tout and I wish I'd read Titchmarshes advice before I sowed them. He said they were a waste of time and that MT and Sugar snap are the ones to grow.
Never mind, next year will be different.
  • looks like i was correct he was expecting peas in 60 days for
     75 day to maturity variety.

... Epsom salts diluted in water to encourage my Aubergines to flower and it worked like a dream.
    That's really useful to know!

Hi Shauna2021, Just a line to let you know that despite the rude and offensive comments from war garden 572 it just demonstrates how wrong (he/she/it) is. My peas too have started flowering yesterday (8th June). I have decided to just ignore war garden 572 in future treating it with the contempt it deserves and will not respond in any way to its posts. Hope all goes well with your peas. John H
Great news! 👍 Enjoy the peas!

Hurrah @John Harding. That's great. Enjoy your harvest  :)
Gardening has a large element of science attached to it , but there are other very important factors that have a bearing on how anything grows - not just veg, as many of us know only too well. It doesn't take much to set plants back, or push them forward.
If  everyone on the forum sowed the same seed at the same time, and grew them on in what would be an ideal site and conditions for them,  they wouldn't mature at exactly the same time, because we don't all live in the same area, and we don't have the same conditions. For some people, they wouldn't even start growing, and would need re sown, or given extra heat/light etc.
Plants don't even mature at the same time when you put identical specimens in the same bed or border.   :)
