I'm sorry, your obelisk is way too small for Ghislaine de Feligonde.. in fact I wouldn't even attempt it on an obelisk double that size..
That's
disappointing to read. I bought G. de F. as a non-vigorous medium sized rose and
was told by the nursery that it would fit in the space, which is 1 meter wide. I
also looked up descriptins and examples of how people were using it. See pics.
I have no
issue buying a larger obelisk or structure (current obelisk is 1.7 meters) to
put in on (my husband would probably welcome that!)
It is growable as in your pics but they are not 1m space. The first two are tall pillars (probably 2.2-2.6m tall, like a pergola) and the width on top looks like 1.5-2m. The one on the third pic, on the wall, looks 2.5-3m tall and similarly wide.
A 1.7m obelisk is really only suitable for a patio climber/larger shrub but not for a true climber or rambler.
If you want to grow her in that space, you would need to take her higher and give her space to spread to the sides. Hard to advise more without seeing the rest of the space and knowing the dimensions of the area and the path.
If Ruby wants to get another obelisk, I recommend searching for roses in the 5 feet x 3 feet range.. the obelisk will draw them up.. One like this 'Scented Garden', which flowers all summer and has, I think, a colour that would suit a rusty obelisk.. mine is a black metal one..
It's roses of this stature that should be considered for a 1.7m ..
Very helpful links @edhelka thank you (and everyone).
As it happens I do have an ugly wall to cover at the back. I was going to get it rendered, but I'll put in a trellis instead in Autumn, swap the rose with the drimys aromatica in the red circle, and consign the rusty obelisk to the veg garden.
It looks fine to me @RubyRoss. The colour matches it’s surroundings well, and anyway, once the rose has grown up it a bit more, it won’t be so noticeable.

https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.250003 - as a pillar
https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.278654 - on a bigger obelisk, still on the smallish side but doable
https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.402357 and https://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=21.402356 - pillar again and you can see the very nice support used and how much wider around the support it gets.
