@bede As I have just mentioned on your 'Box ' thread it is all about having an open mind and understanding that we all see things differently.

There have been some friendly and possibly helpful advice.

But I can't get the subject of "taste" out of my mind.  To me it's important.  Taste defines a person's individuality.
Hi bédé. What’s on your mind regarding taste? Is this about gardening or Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? Feel free to get it off your chest! Jamie

@bédé it's absolutely about taste, but all you can judge from someone's taste, is simply that. We all have our own, luckily!
    I don't understand your point.

Taste is about .. well taste .. if you don't understand, you won't understand.  Not worth my explaining.  Maybe a class thing, maybe a generation thing, maybe an education thing, maybe an arty thing.  To me it's important, I've said it, it's not on my chest.

I do understand that people see things differently.  Tattos, eyebrows, fingernails, fashions, colours ...  I don't have to take it quietly!

But four-coloured shrubs in pots.  The OP may love the idea, but they should be informed that one at least thinks it's ghastly.  And saying so is flushing similar peple out.  I'll try and remember who.

@bede As long as you don't believe your garden taste is better than anyone elses? If that what you are implying then most people will just ignore your comments and simply concentrate on what they like in their own gardens.

One other group of plants you could look at are Berberis. There are hundreds of them and you will find vibrant  gold/ purple/ red/orange/

Have you smelt them.  I inherited one, it had to go.  Absolutely disgusting.

In my notes you will go down as poor taste and no sense of smell.

I understand what taste is, I've got an IQ of just over 50 I'll have you know! 😉
I didn't get the point you were making. Now I do.. but it really doesn't matter to us what other people's tastes are, and it serves no purpose to mention it.

@bede You have made various negative comments.  You like to freely give your thoughts perhaps your suggestions for @mitchell.jamiers2luPHP  would be more helpful after all that is what this thread is about. Your superior knowledge regarding Garden taste would be most welcomed by me who as you say has no understanding of the subject.

    Sorry Jamie

I think bédé's imagining something like those brightly sprayed heathers you find in garden centres.. 4 colours doesn't mean they must inevitably clash or look gaudy! You can go out in autumn and see many colours, shades, tones, shapes and textures growing naturally, and they complement each other beautifully. The pots can make a huge difference to the ensemble too, as can placement, and surroundings. There are myriad ways to arrange it all.
