Unusual bird nesting spots

We’ve got so much exciting bird activity in the garden at the moment.  As well as our normal swallow pair who are nesting in our carport and are about to lay eggs, we have a new pair that are roosting on an artificial hanging bat in our porch 😂 They have spent the last few days staking claim to it and seem to be trying to build a nest on it. They don’t seem worried about all the comings and goings of a front porch so fingers crossed they succeed.

I also spotted a wren flying back and forward to our garage yesterday and it is building a nest under the overhanging thatch on top of a wooden strut, I can’t wait to see if they use it as I understand male wrens make lots of nests and the females chooses the most desirable!

Brilliant @CatDouch - you've certainly got some lovely sites for them, although I think those swallows maybe need to go to Specsavers.... ;)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Sod the birds, let's see the rest of the house B)  Looks like a lovely place you have there.

Is that a Vivid Arts bat btw? I was looking at the range in the garden centre last weekend and bought a lovely Little Owl. The realism is amazing. It will be great to see photos of this as the nest progresses.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    Fabulous @CatDouch. In every way!
I hope you get a lot of enjoyment from all of it - the wildlife certainly seem to be doing that anyway  ;)

We've been renovating a derelict property. It was SO overgrown- we had ivy growing up 2 stories and over the house.  It looked like a tree. The 1st year- there was a wood pigeons nest in the ivy- which we could see from the upstairs window, so we could watch them grow.

Last year, a robin nested in a wheelbarrow in the shed.  A window was broken- hence free access in and out.

How exciting for you @CatDouch. I'd kill for that kind of bird activity at my house! I love how they've chosen that bat, I bet I'd you'd put up a proper box they'd have ignored it 😄
