I grow lithospermum with my rhododendron in ericaceous soil. It’s very pretty.

@Steve the Gardening Vet Well done Steve, do you know which one you have? I find them very pretty, from foliage to flowers, I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. :)

Went for Pieris 'Select' as it'll grow to around 1m tall and wide which is ideal for the big pot!

    That's a) lovely and b) a good thought!
  • I'd put in something productive, such as a gooseberry bush.

I'll be polite and not say what I think about gooseberries! :D

This pot was for aesthetic purposes on the edge of out patio near the bifold doors so pretty was the main criterion. :)

The rhododendron is scented which is unusual I know. It does look pretty now but to be honest it won’t look too good in a few weeks when the yellow flowers have gone. Have you considered a rose? Mine do well in large pots and have a longer flowering period than rhododendrons.

I think @Steve the Gardening Vet has already made his choice  ;)

Good luck with it - it should be fine   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I ended up with a pieris, red foliage when new, pink buds with white flowers and evergreen so it fits most of the needs. :)
