:D  There you go @Fairygirl. If you want to grow lettuce, just move a few hundred miles south every summer. Easy  B)

Best laugh I've had all morning, don't you have timers up there in Scotland @Fairygirl to regulate your day length hours as needed for lettuces?   :)

That's where I'm going wrong - I'll just pack up and move to your location or @Lyn's @raisingirl:D

I know @floralies - I'm clearly a moron. Maybe I could tuck the lettuce up in the house instead -  in the hall cupboard, or even out in the shed, and set a timer for them to get up much later.  ;)
How very dare we have so much daylight in summer....

Hmm 🤔 @Fairygirl … lettuces in raised bed or bunk beds … consider … ?

    Oh -don't pander to the b*ggers @Dovefromabove.
They're lucky they get looked after at all  ;)
Mind you - a bunk bed might make it harder for the slugs. They'd maybe need ropes and crampons instead of slithering up something a bit smaller.
    I'll look into it....
