Is it a saxifrage of some sort?

It is, it’s Saxifraga Urbium. AKA London Pride.

Not London Pride but one of its parents.
Common name St Patrick's cabbage. Saxifaga Spathularis.
I transplanted a little piece from Co Kerry in SW Ireland to Co Down in NE. It seems to thrive in this shady, mossy bank.

Yes! I saw some in the local GC the other day.
Might give it a go if the weevils don’t attack it too badly.

Taller flowers than London Pride. An interesting association with Portugal too.

Of course, we were being tested!
