Hakonechloa for ground cover

Is this a good option?

Do you think they look better on their own with other plants around or a few of them together?

Hoping to get some ground cover to make a border more manageable for weeding. Have carpet rose, viburnum boriensis, c overdam ornamental grass and a salvia caradonna also with an Amelanchier at the back. I want the roses and salvia and Amelanchier to be the stars really but I know I am going to have my work cut out if I don't plant in those spaces.

Any other alternatives welcome.

Thought about creeping phlox too.

@Ivy2 I have seen this planted en masse under a tree where it looked amazing, in a photo! Not sure how well it works in practical terms and there are different forms.
I have seen it at Chelsea in a huge pot, asked the grower how they had achieved such a large plant. Answer tomato feed. It was the best plant on the stand.
For me it wouldn't be the first plant I would think of to help keep weeds down.

I have 5 either side of my patio.
I got the ordinary green variety as I thought the yellow was a bit to bright for my taste.
I only planted them 2 yrs ago and they've grown quickly.
They make a lovely sound in the breeze too.
Even in winter the dead foliage and seed heads gives interest.

Pic was of my blackberry but you can see the hakonechloa

I find they grow into big specimens, if given a bit of time. My original has now been divided several times.

I have loads of divisions now - from one original plant. They wouldn't be great for weed suppression as they aren't evergreen.
    Great plants though.

I like this plant very much, for sun or shade where it brightens up a dark area..
    Try it with various blues..

Hakonechloa looks wonderful planted en masse IMO, as it's not evergreen you could plant small bulbs through it quite effectively. For a year-round cover, Sesleria autumnalis is better; it does benefit from cutting back in spring, but grows back rapidly. Not as elegant as Hak mac but you get flowers.
