    I bought the above 3 hardy geraniums a few weeks ago, early Spring, in 9cm pots.  I admit I probably should have potted them on, but they were supposed to be ready for planting out.. paltry specimens but I took a chance.. I was wondering why they hadn't grown, so I dug them up to find teabags and roots coming through, but little top growth... one is a goner, the other 2 I've repotted..

    They cost £6.20 each, think they're worth it?  I don't..
    They came from Claire Austin..

    Let's ask GW to find out which companies are using these things then boycott.

    I think, apart from small independent nurseries, they're all doing it now. The only way to avoid it is to buy very  small plugs . At least you can see if they're present and remove the teabags before they do any damage.

    I am appalled at Claire Austin, she is regarded as a very reputable supplier.
    How can you lie there and think of England

    @Marlorena, I would email Claire Austin and complain. She should give you a refund for the dud ones.

    @Marlorena, that's genuinely appalling!

    I would never knowingly leave them on a plant. I've lost plants due to the, too so if I spy one, it comes out.

    I was thinking of Jiffy 7s.  Would you call these "tea-bags"?

    We have only ourselves to blame for wanting too-cheap products and pillorying industry if they respond.  It's the same with food and clothes.

    Well I potted up the osteos. I had a rummage around. They have not rooted in a natural way. The roots come out the bottom of the teabag and work their way upwards along the sides of the pot. There are no roots at all in the middle. Blocked by the  teabag I assume.
