    @Fairygirl - I think you are right about fashion and appealing to new gardeners. I think we all wear ourselves and calm down eventually finding our own style.

    Fashion has never bothered me and I grow what I like , after all it’s my garden so why let other folk tell you or* advise* you what’s  * in * and what’s not . Go your own way , do your own thing , paddle your own canoe ,do your own knitting etc .

    I grow what grows well for me,  I’m thankful for anything that fills a space.

    We have a ruby and a white one. The latter isn't doing so well but it has been in our garden for over 40 years! Ruby was transplanted some years ago and she loves her new place and is fabulous.
