I sowed Fenugreek seeds (from my spice cupboard) outdoors a couple of weeks ago, and they germinated even in the cold

This is them on 25 Apr 2023:

My Melianthus major is growing really well at the base of a sheltered south facing wall.

I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Most garden plants are exotic.  It's what we gardeners seem to like.

Even natives are grown as hybrids and exotic selections.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

We grew Chinese artichokes 2 years ago and then we had as "volunteers" last year and yes we have them again. Not worth the hassle though.
We also love our Beschorneria yuccoides, growing in the ground, which we think is exotic and it has 4 lovely flower spikes already

Surinam cherry - Eugenia uniflora - existed here for some years in a large pot until I could no longer manage it..  beautiful red foliage all year, similar to Photinia but longer lasting.. scented myrtle like flowers in Spring with large purple berries in autumn..
It survived to -5c unscathed, got cut in half at -7c, and would probably not survive worse than that..
    Eugenia uniflora 'Etna Fire'..

    Now I am growing..
Myrcia laruotteana var. paraguayensis, which as name implies is native to sub tropical South America, Brazil mostly..   also similar to Myrtle..
I planted it during the winter, some tips got frosted off but otherwise doing ok.. I think it flowers in June and again in late summer..

I should also include a rose..  this is 'L19 Laos'.. a rare exotic climbing rose found growing in, obviously, Laos.. probable origins in Xinjiang province, China..
Climber to 6 foot or so..

    East Anglia, England

New Zealand yams, or oca- sweet root vegetable. No idea why they aren't commercially grown here. They're delicious!
  • Ginger lilies, gronw outside, no protection. Increasing steadily each year. Delicious scent. I have red and cream varieties, the orange one died.
Snail Vine. In the conservatory. Hasn't flowered for the last 2 years.
    Restorias.
I am giving loofahs and okra a try this year.

I used to grow Gloriosa superba 'Rothschildiana' in my parents greenhouse when I was quite young.
It looked amazing - more so as it would have been the 1960's

I'm growing Cape Gooseberries for the first time this year.
I sowed in early March and I've got some nice sturdy plants
