    Don’t think it’s a honeysuckle … the leaf buds look alternate to me and Lonicera (honeysuckle) have paired opposite leaves.

    @Dovefromabove Thank you so much.   Have advised my friend we aren’t sure what it is, so best to feed and re-soil and wait and see how she likes it or otherwise to get rid of it now.

    I wonder if it’s a very starved and neglected Salix flamingo … they’re usually grown as standards so a long-neglected one could look like that … I’d get rid of it and buy something nice that’ll be happy there to go in that pot.
