There's no way of telling really - just plant it in the right way and cross your fingers.
When I split mine, sometimes not all of them flower the following year, but some do.

  • That's a gorgeous one, @Pete.8 !  I have Immortality, which is white and flowers in the spring and autumn.
I've had bearded iris that have flowered one year but not the next as well, despite ideal conditions.  I have one I purchased bare-root from an online plant company that's been in the ground for two years and still hasn't bloomed.  Maybe this will be the year.

Mine do have some kind of iris fungus but just can’t find one that doesn’t eventually have it. :(

I’ve been given a pot with a growing bearded iris in . It’s a couple of inches tall . I know nothing about these plants except that they have to grow in sun and be planted shallow . My question is ,if I plant this iris do you think it will bloom this summer ?
I honestly have no idea lol. I came here from your profile and I went to ur profile to see if I could follow u cause of a good comment u made. Iris is my name!

It would have been too immature for flowering this year if it was so small in spring @bcpathome, but it might/should be fine next year. They can take a while to be mature enough to flower well  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
