I do hope this isn't just a cat...

Captured on the wildlife camera; we've had a lot of cats and quite a few birds, but I'm really hoping this might be a pine marten, which are around locally.  Opinions please  :)

Not great photos unfortunately...

It's got the arched back and heavy back leg of one hasn't it? Ears look about right too.

How exciting if it is, let’s hope it visits again and you can get a clearer identification. The tail looks very like a pine marten 👍

Thanks, @CatDouch.  When it stops raining I'll replace the wildlife camera down the end of the garden and see what I find.  Hopefully the hedgehog will be back too...

I’m getting 3 different hedgehogs a night on my wildlife camera which is lovely to see, they’ve all got different identifying features so I can tell them apart.  I’m not likely to see any pine martens here in Devon though, lucky you 😀

Yes my first thought before reading your post was pine marten.

If it's a cat it's one with very short legs.  Certainly could be a pine marten.

I've been reading up about them, @KT53.  They're said to be Ireland's rarest mammal, so if the ID is correct, we're privileged to have "seen" one.   :)

I'm hoping the night before last's photo is conclusive, if rather blurry...  though now I'm hoping it isn't just a young fox...
