Do you know what it is @Plantminded - I always relate people's pix to my own garden, then go from there with plants or directions, but when I'm sitting here in the lounge my brain malfunctions completely, because I'm facing a particular way, and it's almost the exact opposite of that photo!
I do have to think about east and west anyway, which is a bit of a nuisance when I'm on a hill - I often have to stop and close my eyes, and get it right in my head.... Not always ideal
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
An easy way is to just remember the word WE, west left, east right @Fairygirl. That's what threw me when I saw EW, may be too many sheep on your walks!
Oh - I love Shredded Wheat @Loxley. I know- I'm just weird altogether. Only problem with it is - it's like Weetabix. You need to clean the bowl, or fill it with water, right away to avoid it setting like concrete.
the only problem with that NESW thing is that you have to remember which direction to do it in - clockwise...

Wasn't there an ad campaign once about eating 3 shredded wheat? They obviously had no idea about that compass mnemonic! No, it was Weetabix, I like those too!
