what is this bush lost the label can it be saved

hi any advice on the name of this bush and the problem shown in the photos purchased last year and it was spectacular with a multitude of little hanging yellow bells early spring this year however the top of the bush looks dead its brittle and dry and crumbles in you touch all the branches except the little one at the bottom show no signs of growth at all no foliage the only sign of growth is 1 branch at the base look at the photos to see the issue and help put a name to it for what to do it may be in the wrong position or protected over winter help!

Acacia species.  Possibly mimosa.  Dies in coldest weather even in Nice.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

I think it might be a sophora sun king. Same problem as with the acacia though, they don't like really cold conditions and are safer on a sunny south facing wall.

Not acacia dealbata/mimosa as grown round here.  The foliage is much more ferny than that.

It looks like a tree my neighbour has - a Kowhai tree
They brought back seed from New Zealand about 30 years ago.
The tree is now about 20ft tall, but quite thin and seems very healthy.
It gets smothered in bright yellow flowers

I found a thread from a few years ago..

    Definitely not an Acacia.
I agree, Sophora Golden King. I have had one in a large pot for several years This year is the first time there has been no flowers, due to the horrendous weather.

I read:  flowers- balls not bells.  Now I reread "bells" I will go with sophora.
