Cheap tools can sometimes work out if you only need to do one easy job but a cheap chainsaw can kill you. A good tree surgeon will also keep disruption and damage to a minimum.

I watched a tree surgeon working a couple of weeks ago on a neighbour's eucalyptus tree which must be at least 60 feet high. He was extremely careful in where he placed the falling branches, only in small sections as previously mentioned, and didn't go at it like a bull at a gate.
His colleagues at the base were disposing of the sections and letting him know when to take a break while they caught up.
There was a heart stopping moment as he carefully moved his weight onto a branch and slipped slightly, but he quickly regained his balance and my heart regained it's normal rhythm.

Using an angle grinder in a garage is one thing, using a chainsaw 60 feet up a tree on a ladder is something else.

Hello AnniD, I was just trying to give examples of safe and stupid procedures. He wouldn't be 60 feet up the tree, that's where the uppermost smallest branches are. Am going to attempt to obtain quotes after Easter. He's busy today. We inherited a "love seat, which is now rotten,(well, already broken up for the tip) we had an area of decking under said tree, with another seat/table affair, like you get outside pubs. Thats going under the tree
Further on, the shady border/stumpery is being extended. Grass won't grow under there. Be nice to fit in more hostas, and ferns
     Yes, don't panic folks,tree first.

Glad to hear that he's going for quotes @Nanny Beach  :).
I'm sure it will look lovely when it's all done.

He's not going for quotes,I am
(. He has all these phobias, and anxieties,he doesn't use the phone,) if we can get the tree reduced by half,he will be able to keep it smaller. I was going to put "keep on top of it", but was thinking you all would be worried him being up there. He's ridiculously agile for a bloke of his age! My daughter moved house, had forgotten about the lampshade in the living room. Victorian high ceilings, hubby put the Wheely bin underneath it, vaulted from the floor with no effort, stood on top, removed lampshade! Hah, you thought I was going to tell you something naughty didn't you 🤣

  • @Nanny Beach A relative with lots of pine trees in the garden which were mostly dying met a fire guard member and while chatting he mentioned the trees. Because the fire guard has to train also how to take down trees was happy to use his garden as exercise. He saved around ten quit.

    I my garden.

Our last neighbour, fireman was dreadful, terrifying watching him with the chainsaw.....no protection,AND he set light to our garden!!!

  • Thanks for letting me know NanyBeach.

    I my garden.

  • just to clarify ..you CANNOT hire a chainsaw unless you have recognised safety training ..leave it to the experts ..and keep your limbs attached 😂
