Price of Veg
I'm astounded at the price of plugins for veg. Who would use plugins for carrots at the price charged?

Good luck if you're rich enough to want to buy them, or if you grow and sell them. It's not always about the money when you grow your own veg, I'd say it's the taste, freshness and convenience. But at what price? Am I missing something?
In comparison I bought 10 carrots at Tesco the other day for 45p and I couldn't fault the freshness nor the taste. Gardeners on here would know they could grow 100s of carrots with a £2.50 packet of seeds.
Hope novices are not put off growing their own veg by these prices.
I'm wondering if the plugins are intended for school gardens to quicken up growing time?

if you remember this time last year you didn’t know why your courgettes were rotted and slimy on the ends, I told you the problem and you obviously learnt from that.
so, as you can vouch, not everyone knows everything until they are taught.

I shall be trying again, sowing seeds in pots and in the ground.
The first time I tried them in the ground. Planted three rows of about 6ft each (I like carrots!!). Only one plant came up. I nurtured it, watered it, and it was a good size. Only problem was that it was so tough, I could hardly cut it, let alone eat it!!
I have tried since, but not much luck - not at ground level, or in a raised bed.
It's a good topic, comparing our HG veg to commercially grown. When everyday carrots (and radish) are bagged for the supermarkets they put gas in there to keep them fresh. They don't seem to do that with their organic range and also leave the carrot tops on sometimes so they dehydrate and go soft.
It's almost as if they're saying 'Well we offered you organic and you complained or didn't buy them so we took them off the shelf'.
Carrots hate being transplanted, you have to sow them direct.
