Plant sale and swap near me?

Is there already, or, would it not be a good idea to have plant swaps and sales nearby to where you live? I would personally use that service to support local people and if my seeds ever grow I could even partake in swapping/selling  :D

We have about three different Facebook selling pages,  there’s always plants on those,  veg and flowers.  All cheap as well.

@M33R4 There will be some NGS open gardens near to you. They will probably have plant stalls on open days. I have donated and brought plants before.  Millions is raised yearly for charity. HPS is another not sure if there is one local to you. Plants are always cheaper and far more interresting than the GC's

Have those here too but prices are extortionate or they expect you to dig great big plants out of their garden if you want them  :/

I try to work it that I don’t get any spares,  if I want 2 or 3 tomato plants,  that’s the amount of seeds I sow.  Both my children grow their own anyway. And we have no neighbours.

Maybe you could collaborate with your local fruit and veg shop and have your plants for sale outside there?  Or check and see if there are any small markets/fetes/fundraisers where you could have a pitch to sell plants?  People expect plants for sale in this way to be really cheap though.

We live near a school so when we have too many tomato and squash plants I put them at the end of our drive for families to help themselves … with a suggestion that if they’d like a donation to the school funds could be made. They seem to disappear by the end of the school day 😊

I too put my extra veg plants in an open cardboard box and leave it either near the pavement in front or near the entrance of a nearby church. They are taken away within minutes. I had previously offered on freecycle, but then it is a hassle arranging a convenient time for collection.
