I've never seen a rat in our garden. Plenty of foxes and mice (the latter also in the house at one stage, but gone now; the former with their faces pressed up against the glass in the back door on occasions).
I'm sure we'll get them at some point, given that next door have decking.
Talk about animals leaving a trail of urine, I’ve just found a man doing that at the end of our garden.
When I challenged him and told him to eff off, he told me that he was not in my garden and that I was a weirdo for watching him…
And they say that homo sapiens is the most intelligent of the animals.
Given the increased use of AI these days, there must be some contraption available which would pop up at the merest scent of human urine and contain a claw which would grab the offending part and give it a sharp twist ? I don't suppose you were in the mood to point out that there IS a difference between just happening to see him "perform " and actually "watching" him ? Homo sapiens is now classed as Homo stupidus ( or at least it should be )
Last summer I caught two young girls using the area behind our garage, vuo the driveway, to urinate. I didn't half surprise them!!
A week later, in hot weather, I found two ladies sunning themselves up the drive, in precisely the same place. I tried to explain that they were trespassing. They said it was a shame, because it was a sun trap.
IT'S STILL MY PROPERTY!! As they left, I remarked how that place is used - by humans and animals alike. Maybe I should have just said animals!!
Nothing surprises me any more about disgusting humans. I also happened to catch a young lad having a slash up against a neighbour's wheelie bin one evening. To his credit, he at least apologised, but he and his pals had clearly just been round the corner at a party [ I could hear them all as they were outside] so why didn't he go before he left .... A small accident with the direction of your hosepipe might have been a useful solution for you both @pansyface and @rowlandscastle444....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I'm finding that very hard to believe - squirrels living in/chewing her house to bits for 3 years ??? She doesn't look particularly terrified in the pic nor does there appear to be any visible "chewing" damage unless you count the ends of her hair Just hope she wasn't actually paying for the Pest Control.
Bigger version here - although why it's in the Edinburgh news when she lives in Kilwinning, I don't know, but I assume it's because of the other stories which are all form 'the dark side' as we call it Pix of the damage too https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-edinburgh-east-fife-65092730
My dad had squirrels in the attic at one point. Neither the RSPCA or Pest control were interested.
and for those who think grey squirrels are cute - here's the link that's within that item that shows what happens when they give our reds their pox... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-65165959

We currently have a rat in the garden, the neighbor said she saw it stealing a full nut net that I had taken down yesterday when I was cutting down the clematis. Also found a tiny mouse in mums kitchen tonight! Time for traps inside and out. No idea why we suddenly have them.
Marne la vallée, basically just outside Paris 🇫🇷, but definitely Scottish at heart.
