.. or a near equivalent, if anyone knows one. I forgot to bring this one inside over the winter and would like to grow it again. Have tried searching for pelargonium and zonal/regal geraniums using the colours as search terms but the results are endless and none resembles this! Thanks.

  • I don’t know if this is the exact one. This is an Angel geranium.

Thank you... unsure if it is that but that's much closer than anything I have found so far! I will join the waiting list.

Jer’rey has much smaller flower, being an angel pelargonium. Lots of unnamed pelargoniums are available and I’ve seen similar ones in Lidl today. If you’re looking for a named variety Black Prince is one that looks like a close match. Available from Fibrex:

If you want Jer’rey, which is one I always grow, no need to join the waiting list, I’m happy to send you a rooted cutting.

Ah, that's lovely @pitter-patter, and great info. I'll keep a close eye on Lidl too then! They had some pretty burgundy purple ones I couldn't pass up this morning (but without the pretty white edges)

Oh my gosh... though... why would you recommend that site to someone with a plant addiction?! I want them all. Have you seen Martin Pope and Monty's Magic?

@WAMS My windowsills are absolutely crammed with overwintering pelargoniums. An annual trip to Fibrex to see the national collection of pelargoniums had been one of my summer joys. Unfortunately they don’t hold the national collection anymore and they’re closing the nursery as well at the end of this year.

I was just looking back at my photos to try to help and agree it looks like an angel type. I had some lovely, similar, ones the year before last but they were from a supermarket and had no ‘name’ unfortunately.

Most Garden Centres will have a good selection of pelargoniums next month. I recommend buying small as they will soon fill out and are much more economical.

If you like the look of the one in your picture, may I suggest trying the scented leaf ones. They often have small and pretty petals but also add another dimension with the scented leaves. I love the scent of Geranium leaves anyway but the fragranced ones can smell like orange, lemon, apple, rose and all sorts.

    Happy plant shopping.

My windowsills too, @pitter-patter...  I was wondering about a wire shelf for the windowsill for next winter so there could be further layers of pelagorniums, like a chocolate box. Or a long narrow table in front of the widest window, perhaps...

    Sad news about Fibrex closing.

Thanks @AuntyRach, and very kind of you to check your photos. I bet you have some beautiful ones! And yes, scented ones sound intriguing. Apple, rose, cinnamon would all be pretty delightful esp if they remain fragrant while overwintering.

@pitter-patter do you have any tips on growing cuttings of Jer'rey? All other pelargonium cuttings seem to be a doddle, but I just cannot master this one! I've tried various methods but they're such fragile plants I can't seem to get them to root
