You're going to be very confused with all these great choices... I'll give you a different one..

Do consider 'The Lady Gardener'.. from David Austin Roses...  it has the most exquisite blooms, held upright and healthy foliage.. the blooms are scented of tea.. I've lost all my photos of it unfortunately due to computer malfunction..
I remember it was in full bud in early May when I had an overnight -5C and it didn't bat an eyelid at that..
It grows to just the right height and width, without being lanky or floppy..

..the only photo I have, the orange bloom in this vase, alongside Royal Jubilee, Thomas a Becket and an almost black Munstead Wood..

..then there's the rather lovely 'Lolabelle' from Trevor White Roses.. tea scented again, continuous bloom and healthy foliage.. about 4 x 3.. a delicious rose..

@GardenerSuze, no kidding. You were spot on. Great suggestions from great folks here. Which one to choose, no problem, I will go with all of them, just have to tear the house down :). No seriously, I may make room in the front garden for several rose plants. Brilliant collection to choose from. Will reply soon to the contributors. Thanks again.

Can I say a big thank you for your great suggestions. Awesome ideas. Roses it like entering a separate beautiful world. New to gardening and learning about plants has been an eye opener. Roses is another branch to my learning tree. Lovely folks here with their own actual experinces and ideas is priceless for me. Viewing roses online is one thing but actual experinces is a another and far more valuable.

I am just getting my head round - bush or shrub issue. I think for the centre showcase a bush would be good. As I am working in the front garden, I can make room for more rose plants, you folks has inspired to plant more than one :) . I have beds at the front and back of the front garden. At the front end I have a brick wall about 4 foot, so a couple of shrubs would be ideal. At the other end, I have a bed under the front windows of the house, so again a couple of bushes or shrubs would be good, around 3-4 foot in size.

@Nollie, thank you so much. I love Lady of Shallot, I am wondering with some pruning I can keep it to 4-5 feet. Just Joey looks great too. As I mentioned at the start, need to sort out roses into shrubs and bushes, as each has a different context.

@gjautos, thanks for the newflash. Will go check it out.

@JessicaS, thank you very much, great ideas. Another vote for Lady of Shallot, I do like it very much. Mountbatten, is it yellow/orange colour, does look great. Sheilas Perfume - is beautiful, love the colour tones. Glenfidditch and Evelyn Wylde really lovely.

@Desi_in_London, thank you. I am desi in London too, snap. Chandos Beauty, looks great. I note its hybrid tea, do you have it in the ground or a pot. Need to figure out where to place it, front or back garden, pot or ground, decisions decisions  :)

@daisym, thank you so much. Whisky Mac, love the colour. Hybrid Tea with great scent I note, again need to sort out where to place it if I am able, perhaps a bed under the windows.

@bcpathome, thank you. A vote for Sheilas Perfume, I do love it.

Thanks to you everyone. I am gonna sit a with some coffee, or a drop of whisky or Glenfiddich or all. Do a tick a list. Need to square up in my head, the shrub-bush, hybrid tea- floribunda, which in the front, central and back of front garden. What a great challenge to have. I would be struggling if it was not for you lovely folks, much appreciation to you all.

If I may close with my beautiful Whiter shade of pale. Got it 3 years ago, its in a pot in the back garden, north facing, not much sun but it certainly provides a amazing display. The family members want one, I managed to grow 3 plants using soft wood cuttings and now distributed to family members. All doing good, so rather chuffed with my first attempt, although success rate on cuttings is 50% but that's fine by me.

    Have a great day,
    Dilip

Good to know that we have helped . You are most welcome.
  • I have Chandos Beauty in a big pot ( 60+cm diameter and height although its much narrower at the bottom , maybe only 35-40 cm), I don't have any actual garden/ground space to grow in, my parents have it in the ground and it is even easier to look after there for them.
Kindness is always the right choice.

I keep my LoS at about 4-5ft, so that’s certainly feasible. I prune by up to half during the annual prune in winter and when deadheading, often go down the cane to above a lower leaf node to keep in check any wayward growth. You may need the odd bamboo cane pushed in to give it some initial support.

I can see a lovely orange/apricot rose scheme developing here, Dilip! Blue, purple and white perennials complement those warm tones too - roses always look better with some companions, I think. Just saying 😃

@Desi_in_London, thanks for the note. I may go for a pot too.

@Nollie, thank you. Like the tips about trimming and support. I need to learning about pruning both shrubs and bushes. Interesting you mention colour scheme, well I am useless at combining colours. However I am thinking of adding Salvia Caradonna and Lavender in the front garden, as well as the orange/apricot roses.

Can I please ask a question about LoS, is it fast growing, was thinking of adding membrane and gravel as ground cover on the 3 foot square I have, where I plant to plant the rose. I don't mind if the plants goes over with 3 foot width and covers the square over time but initially what would be best as ground cover. I have gravel (20mm) in some areas as ground cover.

Again thank you for your support and help.
