That is great to know @Fire thank you. I will do this where I've removed Eye of the Tiger and Teasing Georgia which I will replace with Kew Gardens and one of Bring Me Sunshine, Purple Lodge or, outside chance, Soul.
Eufemia has a great scent @cooldoc though you probably don't need to know that. It is small and narrow though, sure you can't squeeze it in? I had a look at NIRP roses, new to me as a category. The only one I have had of those but recently removed was Jingle Bells, only due to poor blooming rate, the colour and form were superb, I've already forgotten how scented it was.
Great review of The Shepherdess @WAMS, thank you. It is a beauty, the only thing that might put me off is octopus canes, I'd rather have those types in-ground but there are limited places in the borders which I WILL NOT enlarge, no never! TCL are out of stock or I would have added it.
It's hard to photograph these well as they are sprawling, but I am enjoying Rosa Flanders Rose very much. They have been flowering more or less all summer and been healthy (no fragrance). The bloom form has been all over the place, but that might just be the first year. I like that they are low growing and fit under my espalier apple. They seem low fuss - and that is what I was looking for. Small blooms, a good, stable red and very jolly. No good for cutting as the blooms are only good for a day or two. About 60 cm high. As a colour fiend, they work for me. I grow them next to Salvia Blue Note and I like the combo. They sprawl through each other.
These days I am looking for roses that flower more perpetually and are healthy bred. I don't grow many shrub roses but I would certainly keep these two. A tight group or three or more would be my recommendation. Prune short to keep them compact.
I was inspired by the low-growing reds at Tatton Park show (on TV). I love the colours of wood, roses and brass-type bath. Quite glorious. So warm! The light, the sun, the glow.
Hurrah, the garden is currently enjoying much needed rain.
I suspect I’m destined to make the same mistakes over and over, ground hog day-style. Having lost a lot of young perennials to (too) early heat followed by the recent flamethrower winds, I’ve just ordered replacements. I used to buy in February, grow them on and plant out in May but two year’s running they haven’t got established enough before they fry and die. Maybe these autumn purchases will have a better chance to get their roots down and thus be more resilient next year. That’s the theory anyway..

Yes, @cooldoc, we are hoping to move as soon as we have found a unicorn place that ticks various boxes, hopefully towards the end of next year. I will miss my long, strange garden... and very little else about Luton.😆 I don't anticipate being able to have a decent-sized rose garden again, unfortunately.
@cooldoc, congratulations on your new house. You will be very busy in coming months preparing borders and planting out. I loved that stage of gardening and miss all that planning and planting.
Funnily enough @WAMS I was just browsing Lens website, as you do, and saw they had ORA still in stock as a standard. Since DA themselves only do a selected few as standards, it must be ok so don’t let me put you off.
My eyes lit up when I saw they had Lolabelle. Can you give me the lowdown on it, especially how well does it bloom/repeat? Not that I need another yellow to add to my growing pile, but if it’s a cracker I might just twist my own arm. Do you still have it @Marlorena?

No, that went a few years ago Nollie. Lovely rose though, repeated quite well and seemed healthy enough.. nice tea scent.. very Austin-like, highly bred. 'Molineux' is similar I think, and perhaps better.
Oh I’m sorry, scotch that @WAMS and @Marlorena, it’s Leah Tutu they have, not Lolabelle! I sometimes think one and write another, a sort of mini word blindness.
So, ahem, starting again, does anyone have Leah Tutu? 😆

Eustacia Vye, Lolabelle, Lark Ascending
Good point, @Nollie about Olivia

I'm surprised Lens have it.
@WAMS There will be compromises.. but hopefully not much for you and hope you find your Unicorn soon..
@Eustace so that kinda rules out Jayne Austin for me..
