A lovely and well deserved thread. I treat this forum rather like a gardening book- a proper book which gives sound advice from a group of knowledgeable, experienced and  generous authors. I enjoy dipping into and reading extracts from  it almost every day.
I learn such a lot here and often wish I had a garden big enough to try out all the super ideas for growing, planting and caring for our beloved gardens.
Thank you @Fairygirl and all the other contributors who make this place so enjoyable.

I thoroughly agree with all the comments. I always appreciate the positivity, patience and kindness of Fairygirl’s advice. She takes the time to explain how location, aspect, exposure, soil and other factors affect how and what will grow well, makes excellent plant suggestions and all the while making it sound simple, achievable and pleasurable.

So many others have helped us on our gardening journey of course, may I give a special shout out to @Perki for her enthusiasm and encouragement to me when I first joined the forum and didn’t know one end of a perennial from another!

@Nollie I always remember those gardeners who helped me out when I first started gardening. I can still recall all the helpful advice they gave, most of which still applies today.

They were all a generation older than me and didn't grow some of the plants that we grow today, due to colder wetter winters Cordylines and Hebes wouldn't have been considered here. As for salvias they were for the greenhouse.

I often wonder what they would have thought of the challenging growing conditions we face today.  This winter has presented different problems a reminder that the weather is more than capable of returning to those colder years.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Not a question on plants but sometimes it is good to say 'thank you' to a special poster who takes time to explain to new and old gardeners alike.
Some gardeners  post in the hope of her reply, as they know it will be good sound advice. She has certainly helped me. So if you are a regular poster, just joined or just like to have a read perhaps you would like to share your appreciation? Thanks to her help on this forum gardens up and down the country are better places.
And here I am thinking @Fairygirl was an admin on this site

I join you in saying thank you too!

I wish I could garden all year round!

Lovely thread and well merited by @Fairygirl whose passion for a good clematis I share tho we have such different growing conditions now I've moved here.   Always helpful, always considered and often funny.   A good friend on and off the boards.

    Thanks @Fairygirl, everyone's right about you. 😊

And thanks to everyone who's in the same league, there also must be thousands of readers who never post, but learn a lot from the knowledge base here - I'm sure they appreciate the valuable and generous information too.

Amen to all the comments.  Her knowledge is SO wide, unlike my handful of veggie matters.
