We'd need a bit more info @debra_underwood - your conditions re soil and climate, rough location, and the aspect of the borders - how much sun/shade etc.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

What age and sex are your boarders?  Do they have a special garden at your school?  A nice idea.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

When you've decided on your flowering plants, I'd recommend adding some ornamental grasses for structure and all season interest.  They are generally disease and slug free, easy to care for and will enjoy the conditions in your sunny border.  @B3's list looks good for your flowering plants!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

Lavender, fuchsia, phlox, penstemon, woody salvia, poppy, crocosmia, osteospermum, lily, peony, ornamental grasses, heather, aubretia, carnation..
I'd add wallflower, but mine got demolished by slugs and snails.
  • For grasses Miscanthus Flamingo and Calamagrostis Overdam plus any of the molinias.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

Geums are another slug resistant plant for your list.
