Also planted out some crocuses, muscari, daffs and tulips that had been lurking while I recovered from a slipped cervical disk that's kept me off gardening for 3 months. Pain in the proverbial.
Ouch. 😫 Glad you're getting over that! Although it'd have to be lower to be a pain in the proverbial - I know many people have their heads up there, but I'm pretty sure you're not one of them. 🤣
Totally agree about the gloves thing - I also need to feel direct contact with the soil and all who sail in her, it's very necessary. I mostly do everything barefoot in warm or hot weather too.
I garden in flip flops in hot weather @Slow-worm. It's great except when I step on a wee shoot of the ubiquitous nettles in our grass and new borders - taming ex pasture can be fraught sometimes but I suppose it's good for the arthritis.

I likewise, can only happily garden with bare hands. I used to garden barefoot as well but no longer in this garden. Too much sharp "stuff" hiding in the undergrowth. Glass, shards of china, stones wire etc. I have given up "!intending to". Something always happens to interfere with my plans. I just fly by the seat of my pants now, grab the moment as and when. ie. A lovely day for gardening but even lovelier for a beach walk with the dog etc.
I had planned to prune all my roses this week but we're getting a few degrees of frost at night all this week so it'll have to wait till next week and that means I'll have less time for sowing new seeds. Too cold to do that this week too.

Yes @Obelixx, I'm having to ignore my urge to chop back certain plants as they're in an exposed border, some looking really good, (the penstemons have somehow stayed bushy and green) some I'm waiting on to see if new shoots will appear. All my seeds will have to wait because they've all got to go outside.
I am having to sit on my hands, I am itching to get outside and begin clearing up dead stuff and clear the ground but with the frosts and cold weather forecast am resisting. Haven't got into full seed sowing mode yet for the same reason.

You talkin' bout me?
I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
