Well I had planned...

..to carry on digging my borders, but I'm absolutely freezing and can't motivate myself to do it. 😑

Digging might warm you up. Then again it might not🤔
    Best not to risk it.

@philippasmith2 This is 3 days of 'tomorrow' now. 😄

@B3 I thought of that, digging would warm me up, but my hands would be icy rooting around in wet soil - and you're right, it'd probably even kill me. 😁

  • Currently working happily away outside, hat, coat, gloves etc. The weather this Winter has been great for getting stuff done out there.
    It's 4'c with a cold Easterly breeze.

@MikeOxgreen feel free to pop round and muck in, my arthritis doesn't affect my ability to make tea. 😁
  • Get the kettle on, i'm on me way  ;)
I have it aswell, but not too advanced that it stops me yet. I remember when it was discovered many years ago now; "So Doctor what now?"

Do you want a recommendation for some warm wet weather working gloves Slow-worm ?

Love doing jobs when it's freezing that warm you up enough to make you start disrobing - hat then coat then fleece etc.

I was going to finish doing the roses and trees today but the easterly showers with a bit of white stuff mixed in knocked that idea into touch. 4 hours of wandering around the house in my gardening gear thinking "I should, I really should...." but I didn't.

Spent 2 hrs outside yesterday in similar conditions doing a huge pile of shredding. Pruning and shredding don't have you moving around enough to keep warm.

Cold here too with a bitter north east wind but helping OH apply barrowloads of compost to the new rhubarb bed warmed me up as did planting out anothr black mulberry and tidying up the bench in the polytunnel ready for sowing later on.

Now I've come in to have a tisane (liquorice and mint) and sow some tomato and chili seeds on heat mats but first I need to clear my crafting table in the annex.....  It seems to be covered in jars of home-made marmalade so that'll be cupboard sorting first.

I have arthritic bits too so try and avoid cold and wet but cold and dry isn't too bad and I agree that keeping moving is best, as are the right gloves.

I've spent enough of my life outside in all weathers, all year round, so I can be choosy about how long I'm outdoors now whether it's walking or gardening. Having said that, dry cold doesn't bother me at all if I'm moving. The biggest problem is that I don't like wearing gloves for gardening, so that's always a wee bit tricky.
I've enjoyed being outside this last few days in the frosty, calm weather and we even had some good hours of sun. Even warm enough to sit with a cuppa a couple of times, with an extra layer on. Very warm for my daily walks, so @Topbird's disrobing was very much in evidence  ;)

Just do what suits you though @Slow-worm. That's all that matters. A garden can wait, pretty much, unless there's things that are absolutely vital to do, and even then - a couple of weeks is unlikely to be a problem   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
