Viola Sorbet XP in pot not looking happy or flowering well

Anything I can do?
In full sun. Soil is moist from rain.
Bought from garden centre last Autumn.
I pinched out all the dead flowers last week but no improvement.
Would it typically flower for a few more months?

They usually look a bit sick at this time of year, but should perk up when the weather gets warmer. The main thing to look out for is pansy/viola leaf spot, that can cause problems.

I nearly sent mine off in the recycling bin this week but have given them a couple of weeks to perk up.  There's a few flowers appearing now so they've been spared!
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.

  • Sorry I thought I attached the photo...
    Any further thoughts much  appreciated!

Most violas like some shade - is this a sun loving variety?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Label says Viola Sorbet XP (Sorbet XP Series) T&M Mix. I cant find any info on this online hence why I posted in the forum. I wish plant labels would provide more information!!

The problem is - plant labels simply aren't big enough to cover all the info and details, as people have very varied locations and climates which affect plants and their growth  :)
It might be abridge too far if there are lots in that pot - with a conifer as well, even if it's small. Are they moist enough and are they just in compost?
Unless you have decent rainfall, you'd be surprised how dry the medium could be when there's so much foliage. The conifer will absorb a fair bit of the available moisture too.

The problem with many sites is - they show you photos of these wonderful displays of flowers, blooming profusely all winter, and the truth is - they really don't look like that for most folk.  :)
I expect they'll have a decent spurt when conditions suit them. If they're healthy otherwise, there's no reason why you won't get flowers.

According to that link of @AnniD's [ to Parkers] they'd only be flowering from around now, yet the RHS site says all through autumn/winter. That's quite telling, as it shows it isn't a given that they're as long, and consistent, flowering as it might seem.
It's quite common for violas and pansies to be hit and miss in terms of flower power  :)

Mine are looking very healthy and green, and I had one flower a couple of weeks ago when the weather was mild, but they never normally flower this early, so yours could well start again when it warms up.
