I also know farmers, and they don't think it's an old chestnut. Some supermarkets may be better than others but they, competition and buyers have got used to perfect looking food. Who is mostly at fault is chicken and egg. Some places proudly sell 'wonky' veg, but unless things have changed since I left the UK, it's the exception.

customers make the choice of where to buy their produce, but not all retailers are the same, Maybe your farmer friends should supply Waitrose ?
